| Eddie Manion, saxophonist with the Asbury Jukes and the Miami Horns, takes on the roles of bandleader, composer, and producer on his debut album, “Follow Through.” In the works for 20 years, his new CD consists of mostly original material, both instrumentals and vocal tracks – yep, Eddie sings! -- ranging from jazz to blues to rock/pop and to soul. Joining him on “Follow Through” are some well-known and distinguished musicians that include Bobby Bandiera, Joe Bellia, Glen Burtnik, Patti Scialfa, Soozie Tyrell, Liza Lowell and others.
Eddie says: “This is a collection of songs I've recorded over the years. I started writing some of these songs in 1984. Well hey! I've been busy! After recording This Time It's For Real and Hearts of Stone in the late seventies as a member of Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, I learned many things from producer songwriter Little Steven but I also acquired his attention to detail and became spoiled with expensive state of the art studios. I also became sidetracked many times (thank God!) first with Bruce Springsteen's Tunnel of Love tour in 1988; a few European tours with Willie Deville; becoming a member of the Robert Cray band in 1993 and then back with the Jukes in 1996 for a few more albums and a million more shows. Sometimes you have to finish the things you start in life. Sometimes you gotta follow through!” |
