A video companion piece to the Bruce Springsteen's Jukebox CD.
Way before Bruce Springsteen was composing and performing his own music, he developed his muse by listening, listening, and listening again to the records that would live with him through his life and career. Cuts from Elvis, Chuck Berry and Johnny Cash were later joined by the Phil Spector sound and the Rolling StonesÉ which in turn made room for Van Morrison, and later still even New York's art-punk terrorists Suicide. There were also classic 45s which captured the Boss and have never let go -- "Quarter to Three" by Gary U.S. Bonds and "Devil in a Blue Dress" from Mitch Ryder come to mind. Bruce went on to develop a love for the captivating story songs of Woody Guthrie and the crystal folk of Pete Seeger.
Bruce Springsteen: Under the Influence examines the foundations of his craft and illustrates the huge influence that artists such as these have had on him throughout his career. Featuring footage of Bruce and his favorites, alongside revealing archive interviews with The Boss himself as well as contributions from Vini Lopez, Gary Mallaber, Gary U.S. Bonds, Eric Alterman, Anthony DeCurtis and more.
Not authorized by Springsteen or his record company, but an interesting look at Bruce's influences nonetheless.
